Special Needs Virtual Tutoring Program

Special Needs Virtual Tutoring Program

The Special Needs Virtual Tutoring Program is a free program that aims to provide virtual academic tutoring and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

How Does It Work?

Your child would be paired with a volunteer in high-school or university who has extensive experience in the subject(s) that you require tutoring for. All of our volunteers have been selected through a rigorous written application and face-to-face interview process and have received virtual training, ensuring that they have the skills and experience to be a responsible tutor for your child. They will also be background checked by the regional police to work with the vulnerable sector (elder, children, individuals with special needs).

Your child and their tutor would have a virtual meeting for 1-2 hours/week where the tutor will help your child with their school work. If you let our tutors know in advance, they are also able to prepare lesson plans for a specific subject and teach your child new topics in the Languages, Math, Sciences, and Social Studies. If your child is homeschooled, the tutor can work with you to develop and teach curriculum.
